About me

I’m Ph.D. candidate in Human-Computer Interaction at the University of Stuttgart. I was born 1982 in Stuttgart, Germany and went to school in Esslingen. From 2005 to 2008 I studied Media Computer Science (Diploma) at the Stuttgart Media University. I worked as art and technical director for CGI/VFX animations and video games. I worked as research assistant and lecturer and started my Ph.D. in 2013 funded by a scholarship. Today, I am part of the Collaborative Research Center SFB-TRR 161 for Quantitative Methods for Visual Computing at the University of Stuttgart. My thesis topic, supervised by Niels Henze, focuses on virtual characters, the Uncanny Valley, face perception, mobile applications, as well the as the exploration of new modalities in interactive systems and virtual reality. Currently, I am working at Oculus Research/Facebook in Redmond (WA).
