Welcome!

Welcome!

I’m professor of human-computer interaction (HCI) at the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences. My work and research focus on immersive, multimodal, and intelligent user interfaces such as in virtual or augmented reality (AR/VR). After studying Media Computer Science (Diploma) at the Stuttgart Media University, I worked as a developer, designer, art, and technical director for CGI/VFX animations and video games. My PhD was funded by the scholarship "Digital Media" and the DFG Research Cluster SFB-TRR 161 (Quantitative Methods for Visual Computing) at the University of Stuttgart. In 2017, I worked at Oculus Research/Meta in Redmond. My thesis - supervised by Niels Henze - is about the Uncanny Valley of virtual characters and avatars. In 2019, I was post doctoral researcher at the Techbase and the University of Regensburg.

Today, I aim to bring forward research and innovative student projects on user interfaces and novel user experiences. I love to work together with motivated and diverse groups and colleagues with skills and interests across the disciplines. In our research, we employ a multidisciplinary approach that integrates methods from HCI, artificial intelligence (AI), computer graphics, and cognitive psychology. Through theoretical exploration, we aim to contribute to the body of knowledge in these fields, while our practice-based user studies focuses on applying these theories to develop solutions that address current and important real-world challenges.
