Responsible for content under § 18 (2) MStV

Prof. Dr. Valentin Schwind, address as above.

Liability for content

As a service provider, I am responsible for my own content on these pages under the general laws pursuant to § 7 (1) DDG. According to §§ 8 to 10 DDG, however, I am not obliged as a service provider to monitor transmitted or stored third-party information or to investigate circumstances that indicate illegal activity. Obligations to remove or block the use of information under the general laws remain unaffected. Liability in this respect is, however, only possible from the point in time at which a concrete infringement of the law becomes known. Upon becoming aware of such infringements, I will remove this content immediately.

Liability for links

This site contains links to external third-party websites over whose content I have no influence. Therefore I cannot accept any liability for this third-party content. The respective provider or operator of the linked pages is always responsible for their content. The linked pages were checked for possible legal violations at the time of linking; unlawful content was not recognisable at the time of linking. However, permanent monitoring of the content of the linked pages is not reasonable without concrete indications of an infringement. Upon becoming aware of legal violations, I will remove such links immediately.

Copyright

The content and works created by the site operator on these pages — in particular texts, photographs and the graphic design — are subject to German copyright law. Reproduction, editing, distribution and any kind of use beyond the limits of copyright require the written consent of the author or creator. Downloads and copies of this site are permitted for private, non-commercial use only.

Scientific publications: The academic works linked or made available for download here (PDF files) are subject to the copyright of the respective publishers and rights holders (incl. ACM, IEEE). They are provided solely as author copies (accepted manuscripts) for personal, scholarly and non-commercial use, in accordance with the self-archiving policies of the respective publishers. Copyright in the individual articles remains with the publishers or rights holders; the authoritative version of record is available via the respective DOI or link. Any use beyond this is governed by the licence terms of the respective publisher.

Insofar as content on this site was not created by the operator, the copyrights of third parties are respected and marked as such. Should you nevertheless become aware of a copyright infringement, please notify me accordingly. Upon becoming aware of legal violations, I will remove such content immediately.

Privacy Policy

Protecting your data matters to me. This website is static and deliberately data-minimal:

Controller

The controller within the meaning of the GDPR is the site operator named in the imprint above. Contact: mail@valentin-schwind.de.

Hosting and server log files

Hosting is provided by STRATO AG, Otto-Ostrowski-Straße 7, 10249 Berlin, Germany. When the site is accessed, the server automatically collects technically necessary data in server log files (e.g. IP address, date and time of access, requested resource, amount of data transferred, browser type and operating system, referrer URL). This serves to deliver the website and to ensure its stability and security. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest). A data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR is in place with STRATO. Log files are deleted after a short period unless required to investigate security incidents.

Contact form

If you use the contact form, the data you enter (name, email address, message) is processed solely to handle your request and is not shared with third parties. Transmission is server-side, by email, without any external service. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (pre-contractual/contractual) or (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in responding to enquiries). The data is deleted once your request has been fully dealt with and no statutory retention obligations apply. To protect against automated abuse, the form uses a hidden check field and a simple arithmetic question; no personal data is transmitted to third parties in the process.

Local storage in the browser

This website does not use cookies. To remember your language and theme (light/dark) preference, your browser's local storage is used. This information stays solely on your device, is not transmitted to the server or to third parties, and serves only the display you have chosen. The storage is strictly necessary for this function (Section 25(2) no. 2 TTDSG); you can delete it at any time via your browser settings.

Encryption (SSL/TLS)

For security, this website uses SSL/TLS encryption, recognisable by „https://" in the address bar. This means the data transmitted between your browser and the server cannot easily be read by third parties.

External links

This website links to external pages (e.g. publisher/DOI pages of the publications, academic profiles, GitHub). I have no influence over their data processing; the privacy policies of the respective providers apply. When you click such a link, personal data (e.g. your IP address) may be transmitted to the respective provider. Third-party content (e.g. videos, maps, fonts) is not embedded and is not loaded without your action.

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. Where processing is based on a legitimate interest, you may object at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation. To exercise your rights, a message to mail@valentin-schwind.de is sufficient.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The competent authority is the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information Baden-Württemberg (LfDI BW), Lautenschlagerstraße 20, 70173 Stuttgart, Germany.
